Taxonomy listings show 7 cats classified as 'Big Cats'. They are:

Panthero leo - Lion                     Panthero tigris - tiger                                   Panthero pardus - leopard

Panthero onca - jaguar               Panthero uncia - snow leopard                      Neofelis nebulosa - clouded leopard

Acinonyx jubatus - cheetah

Whilst the first five are definitely big cats in anyone's definition, the same cannot be said for the diminutive tree cat - the Clouded Leopard. Likewise the relatively defenceless Cheetah also sits uncomfortably in this category. However I have used this classification in my galleries.

 Be afraid.................. be very afraid!
